About this work
Folding fan with a double leaf of cream satin, the front side painted with colorful flowering branches, birds and butterflies. The back side is divided into three grisaille-painted flower pieces with butterflies and birds. At the top edge of the fan are marabou feathers. The carved ivory mount has 16 connected ribs, decorated with flowers and Chinese figures. The outer ribs are carved in deep relief with flowers, animals and figures. The fan includes a silver fan ring and a mother-of-pearl disc at the closing pin.
