About this work
Folding fan (a) with double leaf of batiste, scalloped along the ends and edged with bobbin lace. Asymmetrically painted with a large and a small branch of apple blossoms. Frame of mother-of-pearl with 16 sticks, of which the closing sticks are entirely carved and painted with meandering magnolia branches. On the right closing stick a metal (silver?) monogram 'M.S.'; the initials of Maria Schölvinck-Romme. On the other sticks only the visible part under the leaf is decorated. Copper closing pin and ring with silk tassel at the knot of silk thread.
