Small wooden jewel box, covered with green velvet and decorated in high relief with gold and silver wire and river pearls

Jewel box of wood, covered with green velvet and decorated in high relief with gold and silver thread and river pearls. Model: in the shape of a sewing cushion that opens in two halves; each presumably with a wooden inner form, which on the outside is covered with green velvet over a soft filling and on the inside with tightly pulled crimson satin. Embroidery: the lid has high relief embroidery with real small pearls, so-called river pearls, with gold and silver thread. The relief most likely created by parchment, on which is embroidered. The metal thread in two techniques: so-called laid gold thread (or couché, couched gold); respectively silver thread, and in cannetille, i.e. spirally embroidered. On the corners of the lid acorn-shaped tassels, "akertjes" (=acorn) in gold thread. Pattern: within a rectangular border, each side of which is symmetrically filled with volute scrolls, violets, hearts and roses, stands a lying, oval scrollwork cartouche with a family emblem(?).
