Playing card case probably originally of green velvet, embroidered in gold, silver thread and multicoloured silk with the city coat of arms of Paris

Play purse probably originally of green velvet, embroidered in gold- and silver-thread and multicoloured silk with the city coat of arms of Paris. Model: flat round base with a wavy raised edge around it provided with holes through which a cord (missing) could be drawn. On two sides is on the edge a button, with a core of wood and wrapped in floss silk, sewn. The fabric of the raised edge is almost everywhere between the embroidered ornaments disappeared. The loose ornaments seem to have been sewn again to the base with large stitches of black silk. Lined with goat leather. Decoration: the 20 protrusions or 'ribs' were decorated with alternating stacked ornaments. Just below the edge ran a horizontal line of silver-thread. Along the top only here and there a small remnant can be seen of the passementerie that originally camouflaged the seam between lining and fabric. The base is circled with a double border within which a zigzag line of silver-thread.
