About this work

Gaming purse of wine-red velvet decorated with silver brocade and embroidered in silver thread and multicoloured silk with an unidentified coat of arms. Model: flat round base with a wavy raised edge around it provided with holes through which a cord of braided silk - ending in a button with wooden core and wrapped in silk - is drawn. Lined with goatskin, over which originally red silk was placed; now only remnants of this remain. Decoration: the 20 protrusions or 'ribs' are decorated with a scatter motif of French lilies and flowers or stars in relief of silver thread. At three-quarter height a horizontal line of silver thread runs. Along the top originally a passementerie of silver thread with festoon stitch was fixed. Only a few remnants of the passementerie remain. The base is circled with a double border within which a zigzag line of silver thread.
