Playing card case of orange-red velvet, embroidered with silver thread and multicoloured silk with the city coat of arms of Paris

Play purse of orange-red velvet (of which the pile is largely worn away), embroidered with silver-thread and multicoloured silk with the city coat of arms of Paris. Model: flat round base with a wavy raised edge around it provided with holes through which a cord of braided silk - provided on both sides with a tapered button with wooden core and originally entirely wrapped in floss silk (one button missing) - is drawn. Lined with goat leather. Decoration: the 20 protrusions or 'ribs' are decorated with alternating stacked ornaments in relief of silver-thread. Alternately above or below is a circle with border where a silver leaf is sewn in (missing in many cases). At three-quarter height runs a horizontal line of silver-thread. Along the top the whole is edged with a border of silver-thread. The base is circled by a double border within which a zigzag line of silver-thread. Herein the city coat of arms of Paris surrounded by a trophy of flags.
