About this work
Folding fan consisting of a mother-of-pearl mount and a leaf of appliqué lace with an insert of silk painted with tempera featuring singing angels. Mount: semi-circular when open and legs connected. All legs are equally decorated, pierced and engraved with a flower branch. Gold-colored bow with a silver-colored knob. Leaf: appliqué lace of bobbin lace and some needle lace, applied to tulle. Lace pattern: borders of roses and C-scrolls containing lilac branches and poppies (?). Painting on the scalloped insert: on light blue silk, satin sky, singing angels flying, grouped closely together, above some clouds.
