Brisé fan of pierced and relief-carved ivory depicting scenes from Chinese life with pagodas, houses, trees, and an unadorned oval medallion in the center. Model: 21 connected ribs. Locking pin of copper surrounded by a mother-of-pearl disc. Decoration: below the oval medallion, centrally located, a seated man with a seated woman playing music to his left. Both are surrounded by standing figures and trees. On the right background, a pagoda. The ribs are filled with scenes from Chinese life, both indoors and outdoors, up to the fan ribbon. The scalloped edge above the fan ribbon is alternately filled with figures, birds, leaf and flower motifs, and on the right, a sampan (partially covered Asian boat).
