Apron of lace embroidery on tulle for a Zaan costume

Apron of natural-coloured lace embroidery: Lierse lace or Limerick lace (tambour work on tulle). Rectangular shape with a sprinkling pattern of V-shapes. Along the lower edge a continuous pattern of a garland and below that a wavy flower vine. The garland consists of an S-shaped pearl string that is always interrupted by an elongated S-scroll. The flower vine consists of larger and smaller flowers, alternating rosette-shaped, round and in the shape of a pinched oval. Side shoots cross the garland above. The shallow scalloped lower edge forms along the lower part of the pattern that consists of a continuous line, which in a straight row alternates oval loops and small figure-eights. The side edges of the tulle are formed in pointed shells, along which with tambour work two interlacing lines run. The top is finished with a hem through which a ribbon can pass. One type of decorative ground occurs in the flower hearts and the S-scrolls.
