Strip of bobbin lace with halved flowers and bows of flower branches

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The repeating pattern consists of two different halved flowers lying along the top edge of the strip. From one of the flowers an arch forms through two, mirrored flower branches that hang down to the bottom edge. Along the bottom edge under each arch lies a trapezium-shaped cartouche. The motifs are made in linen stitch and with thicker and shiny contour threads. The motifs are connected by a fine lattice ground, the Mechelen ground. Ornamental grounds are also applied in the halved flower hearts and in the cartouches. The barely scalloped bottom edge is finished with picots. The top edge is straight finished.
