Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechlin lace. The repeating pattern consists of a continuous and regularly wavy scroll, forming cartouches along the lower side of the strip. The scroll consists of ovals, which along the top of the cartouches turn into three linked flowers and along the bottom of the cartouches consists of a series of five smaller ovals. A large halved flower hangs down from the top of the strip, always between the cartouches and fitting into the wave valley. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground, the Mechlin ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch and with thicker and shiny contour threads. Several different decorative grounds are applied in the center of the ovals, in the flower hearts and a snowflake ground in the cartouches. The slightly scalloped lower side is finished with picots. The upper side is finished straight. The short sides are cut diagonally and finished with a hem.
