About this work

Square scarf of woven wool, with a colored center rosette on a white ground within a wide ornamented border. The pattern is symmetric on the cross axes. In the center rosette, which is red outside and inside, stands a square, on which eight floral motifs with deeply bending point volutes, intersected by eight smaller ones, all in alternating light and dark blue. Inside, four light green quarter circles with small cypresses. The round inner border radiates to the center with fine tendrils of C-scrolls in red and yellow, intersected by whimsically formed blue tendrils. The first border is the widest, with pairs of turned floral motifs in dark red, dark moss green and light blue, whose contours intersect a lower border of narrow inward cypress-shaped floral motifs next to black or dark green gates. The middle border has loosely lying floral motifs, in pairs turned, between them half rosettes in light blue. The outer, narrowest border has wavy double tendrils with lily flowers.
