Collar of bobbin lace with heart and drop shape between two lobes formed by a narrow continuous ribbon

Collar of natural-colored bobbin lace: Russian lace. Semi-circular model with scallops. A continuous narrow ribbon in linen stitch with a thick decorative thread in the middle forms in a winding manner the contours of the symmetrical motifs. The repeating pattern consists alternately of a heart and a drop shape between two lobes. The motifs are directed radially outwards. In each drop shape and between the two bulges of the heart is always a flower with five petals bobbin-made in shape stitch. Connections are made with double picoted braids and braids that form four-pointed stars. The pattern was probably made by Mrs. L.W. van der Meulen-Nulle and the collar was bobbin-made by her pupil Alida Maria van Schaik.
