About this work

Fichu with a turned-back edge of black silk bobbin lace, Chantilly lace. Diamond-shaped model with a center field sown with knots and scalloped edges. The border consists of a series of narrow diamonds through which a ribbon seems to be threaded. This pattern is constantly interrupted by a flower cluster, with a snowball under large leaves from which fine flower branches and reed stems originate. Above the scallop pattern runs a slender flower vine. The motifs are connected by a mesh ground, sown with knots. The work is made in net stitch and one type of ornamental ground is used, thicker contour threads run around the motifs.
