About this work
Round plate of lead-glazed earthenware, on three shell-shaped feet. The plate is decorated in white slip, with a legless mermaid on the flat surface, holding a flowering branch with leaves in both hands. Below the arms the year 1616. Around this is a wide wreath painted. The plate is covered with locally tinted green lead glaze.
