About this work

Fire screen of rosewood and violetwood, partially gilded, inlaid with lapis lazuli and upholstered with yellow Jaquard fabric. The rectangular screen rests on double spool-shaped legs and is pierced with leafy vines and berries. In the center of the top rail, two sunflowers with hearts of lapis lazuli are carved. Signed with monogram TN and dated 1899. Amsterdam, firm E.J. van Wisselingh & Co, 1899.
