About this work

Strip of natural-colored needle lace: Alençon lace. Pattern with a repetitive motif of two different, split flower branches on a fine hexagonal mesh ground, an Alençon ground. Between these branches hangs a smaller branch, alternating with flowers and flower buds or berries. The lower edge is formed by a wavy vine with leaves and some flowers. The waves form large half ovals along the lower edge, filled with a decorative ground featuring different wheel picots. The top edge is edged with a knotted band.
