About this work
Strip of natural-coloured mixed lace: beaded rosaline. The repeating pattern consists of many curling tendrils bearing various types of small and slightly larger flowers. The motifs are cutwork in linen stitch with openings, partly provided with cutwork relief contours. The flower hearts feature 'pearls': festooned needle lace edgings. In the flower hearts of the larger flowers a cutwork decorative ground is applied, a closed pin-stitch ground. The upper edge is finished straight with a straight cutwork band. The almost straight lower edge, where the motifs form minimal shells, is finished with picots.
