About this work
Brisé fan of ivory with a mythological scene in a landscape in a central cartouche. The four surrounding cartouches and the image on the handle depict chinoiserie. The fan is painted with tempera and gold paint. The back has a similar scene, but is less developed. The 30 ribs are connected and held together by a ribbon. The outer ribs are of tortoiseshell. At the copper pin a mother-of-pearl disc.
