Folding fan with a double leaf of thin leather and gouache painting; mount of ivory, pierced and relief-carved, gilded and silvered with a mother-of-pearl background, locking pin with rhinestone. On a background of vertical stripes with roses and floral garlands, which shows close affinity with French silk fabrics of this period, an oval and two rectangular miniatures in gold frames and two diamond-shaped grisailles are arranged in a symmetrical pattern. The trompe-l'oeil effect is enhanced by small ribbon bows above each miniature. In the central medallion, an outdoor scene with fashionably dressed children and a flower seller. In the square miniatures on either side, allegorical representations of love, with a putto holding a floral garland in the center on the left and a putto with a mask on the right.
