Folding fan with a leaf of thin leather on which a pastoral scene is painted in watercolour, on a mount of mother-of-pearl ajour and in relief carved with 'métal en quatre couleurs'. 16 non-connected ribs. In the middle of the leaf a cartouche in which a shepherd and a shepherdess with a more elegantly dressed woman who is sitting on a pedestal smelling a flower. In the collection of Museum Boymans van Beuningen in Rotterdam there is a slightly earlier fan on which almost the same pastoral is depicted (inv. D172). The only difference is that on the Rotterdam example behind the shepherd there is no tree, but a part of a wall with a vase. On both sides of the central representation neo-classical motifs in the form of a medallion with a vase. Around this flower garlands and an ear of corn. On the back of the leaf blue flowers are painted.
