About this work
Fragment of brocaded Gros de Tours, possibly the upper part of a cope. Design: rose vines standing opposite each other in irregular waves, with two vines crowned by rose bouquets hanging in the center, in two colors pink, lilac, cream, two shades of blue, green and gold on a salmon-colored ground. The silk fabric consists of five pieces sewn together in a semicircular shape, with a piece of cherry-colored silk lining at the top. At the top a string to which a label from French and Co. was probably attached. 25. Tacked paper slip with the letter V. Condition: good.
