About this work

Fragment of brocaded Gros de Tours, possibly the upper part of a cope. Design: horizontally repeating bands of floral arrangements leaning alternately to the left and right, sprouting from a sphere in one band and from a basket in the other, in two colors pink, orange, brown and green on a green ground. The silk fabric consists of five pieces sewn together in a semicircular shape, with remnants of a natural-colored silk lining at the edge. Label printed on: French and Co inc.; number 10420; Price 125. Tacked paper slip with the letter V.
