About this work

Linen damask napkin. Central field: depiction of a man offering a burning heart to a woman playing a lute, both dressed in costumes from around 1680. In the sky, a cupid shooting an arrow at the couple. The whole surrounded by a garland of leaves. Running borders: stacked flower vases. Lying borders: mirrored floral ornament. Corners: putti with a flute in their mouth and flowers in their hand on a background of a pseudo-pelt pattern. Checkered pattern on the four sides. In the upper left corner in red cross-stitch: ID under crown 16. In the lower left corner in red cross-stitch 16.
