About this work
The round silver plaque shows a mythological scene: the moment Paris hands the apple to Venus. In the background stand Mercury, Minerva, and Juno. In the foreground lies a river god. Around the plaque is a profiled black wooden frame decorated with a Greek border crowned at the top with a bow.
