About this work
The oval basket rests on a hollow stand ring, and has a vaulted body that is bulged upwards at the ends and in the middle. The bottom and top of the stand ring are decorated with a large pearl border, which is repeated on the top of the basket. The pattern of the openwork and engraved wall suggests that it is built from woven reeds. In the basket a straight partition, bulging upwards at the top, is placed, on which the pearl border is repeated. The whole is crowned by a bouquet of open and closed flowers; they can be identified as specimens of the plant Jasminum nudiflorum.
