Bust of a faun

Bust of an expressive, bearded faun with a largely bare upper body. He has a notably large and protruding pointed ear on the right, a grim facial expression with open mouth, bare teeth and visible tongue. In the hair a wreath of ivy vines, partly hidden under a headscarf draped over the back via the left arm, covering the lower cut of the bust. Over the shoulder and back the faun wears the skin of a kid goat, with the legs falling over the right shoulder and a band diagonally across the chest to secure the folded cloth. The back is flat sawn, with the monogram J.V.L. in ornate letters in the center.
