About this work

Silk carpet with floral pattern of brocaded silk, featuring a central design of floral and leafy vines in pink, yellow, and grey on a blue ground; wide border with the same pattern of bouquet/buta motifs. Lined with changeant silk in red/yellow and a crosswise cotton border printed with a striped pattern of floral vines. Sewn-in label with 19th-century (?) handwriting: "A fabric with multicolored small flowers, from Persia, no. 5".
