Strip of bobbin lace with a deep wave line

Strip of black bobbin lace, Cluny lace. The strip is constructed from roughly sewn together damaged fragments of an original strip. The repeating symmetrical pattern consists of a deep wavy line. In each wave valley stands a rosette with two smaller rosettes above it and a four-pointed star in between. Each wave peak encloses a compound, standing leaf, with five small leaves on either side. Below the leaf stands a framed four-pointed star. The shell border along the underside of the strip is formed by three radiating lobes under each wave valley. In each of these lobes hangs a compound leaf downwards. The lobes are finished with arches made of picoted braids. The wave lines and borders are made in net stitch and linen stitch, the rosette leaves, compound leaves and stars in shaped stitch. They are connected by a braid ground, which forms a coarse square lattice at the top of the strip. The top of the strip is finished straight.
