About this work

Cap, knitted, globe of black silk with diamond-shaped, geometric ornaments of gold thread and a border of plain black silk. Knitted round with four or five needles. The gold thread is knitted together with the black silk. In the middle back a 'seam' where decreases were made. Knitted entirely to the right. The decoration is on the globe, the turned-up 'border' is plain. The cap was most likely shaped by steaming and stretching, as almost no increases or decreases were made to achieve the shape.
