About this work
Conical foot with turned-over rim. Baluster-shaped stem with three knobs and an elongated air bubble. Funnel-shaped cup with rounded underside. On the cup the monogram of the Dutch East India Company, VOC, between laurel branches tied together at the bottom. On the reverse side a three-master moored at a quay full of merchandise. Along the rim a continuous inscription: THE WELL-BEING OF THE DUTCH EAST INDIA COMPANY.
