Sick chair; the chair itself a knob chair with armrests made of hard wood with smooth turned stiles and cross-rails, front legs and back stiles ending in finely turned knobs; back sloping backwards with four flat cross-spindles; flat armrests ending in a thickening, resting on a baluster-shaped support. Seat of woven rush, twisted on top, straight underneath. Seat, back, armrests and front entirely covered with a quilted cushion cover of watered (moiré) red silk, edged with passementerie with tassels of yellow and red silk; the cover (with the exception of the flap of the front) is filled with feather quills and buttoned with yellow at the front, red at the back knotted frayed cords; the cushion cover is fixed to the chair with yellow thin tied ribbons around the legs, seat and knobs.
