About this work

Oval mirror in a gilded, ornate wooden frame with carved decorations of balls and shells, between which a smooth profile is crowned with an ornament of somewhat asymmetrical leafy tendrils and two curling leaves. In the frame a heavily corroded mirror glass with a cut facet edge, closed at the back by a wooden panel (new nails); between the panel and glass a layer of paper has been applied. The frame and the crest were carved separately and once reconnected.
