About this work

Oval mirror in a gilded, ornate bronze frame, decorated with shells, stylized acanthus leaf motifs on a speckled background, interrupted pearl border, and double volutes on the four centers of the arches. The frame is crowned with an ornament of symmetrically grouped leafy tendrils. In the frame the original, heavily corroded mirror glass with a cut facet edge, closed at the back by a wooden panel and two strips.
