About this work

Plate of cast iron, part of the fireplace surround. The opening is framed with an egg-and-dart molding. The pilasters are decorated with vines that end in volutes at the top. The whole is crowned with a man's head in a medallion framed with an egg-and-dart molding, supported by two putti.
