About this work
She stands on a mound with the slightly bent right leg forward. She supports the naked child, turned in profile to the left, on the back with her left hand, while holding a foot with her right. On her long hair she wears a crown decorated with vine ornaments; a lock of hair hangs before the right shoulder. Over a gown with an embroidered neckline she wears a loose mantle, which hangs from the shoulders and extends over the forearms, falling in folds to the knees.
