About this work
Textile fragment mounted on cardboard and redrawn so the entire pattern is visible. Ground in dark purple with a pattern of diamond-shaped woven golden leaf vines. Alternating between them are scalloped medallions with two birds turned away from each other in a tree, and round medallions with birds turned toward each other next to a trunk. The natural-colored background is filled with a very finely woven vine motif. Surrounding this is a band with circular motifs containing running animals, including lions, panthers, and hares. The detailing of the motifs is in flying thread technique.
