About this work
On a bench, placed on a raised platform, sits Anna with Mary seated at her feet, also turned to the left. She holds the naked child on her right leg, looking down at it. Anna wears a head and child cloth and over a garment with sleeves a cloak, which hangs down over the shoulders to the back and is folded over the lap to the left.
