About this work

The apostle stands on a polygonal base with his left leg slightly forward, holding an open book in his left hand and a club in his right. His robe, fastened at the neck with a button and girded at the waist with a belt, is largely covered by the mantle, which hangs from the shoulders, is turned to the left, and is held up under his right elbow. The lower part of the club rests on the base in front of his right foot.
