About this work
Anna stands on a multifaceted, plinth-shaped base on a profiled pedestal. She holds the seated Maria on her left arm, who holds the frontally placed naked child on her lap. Anna's right hand supports Maria's feet. She wears, besides a veil and swaddling clothes, a floor-length garment and a cloak over the shoulders, gathered under the elbows. Maria, with hanging hair tresses in front of her shoulders, wears a long garment.
