About this work

Linen damask napkin with Orpheus among the animals. Central field: the symmetrically doubled pattern shows Orpheus seated among the animals playing his lyre. Standing borders: a wavy line with flowers between it. Upper horizontal border: Orpheus attacked by Bacchantes with spears. Lower horizontal border: Orpheus with his harp and a crowned Orpheus with a woman and a three-headed monster. Upper corners: seated Orpheus. Lower corners: violin and trumpets.
