About this work

Warp-pile red velvet on a ground weave of chain satin (?) of a metal chain and yellow silk weft, locally provided with metal loops. Design: pointed oval, within which a five-petaled rosette with pomegranate motif. From the broad vines surrounding the pomegranates, two smaller pomegranates facing each other emerge above and below; the vines are constricted in the middle. Condition: fair/good. Note: Cf.: Dreger Band Tafeln 1 no. 147 text. p. 158-172 for a comparable piece in the Museum für Kunst und Industrie, Vienna.
