About this work

Strip of natural-colored needle lace: Alençon lace. Pattern with a repeating motif of a winding ribbon with some flowers, crossed by a twisting flower vine. The space between ribbon and flower vine is filled with a relatively coarse pattern of hexagonal picoted spindles, compared to the remaining fine hexagonal mesh ground. Two vertical flower branches always separate the repeating pattern of ribbon and flower vine. The upper side is edged with a bobbin lace border. The underside is finished with a scalloped edge derived from the pattern.
