Strip of bobbin lace with a V-shaped composition and carnations

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The repeating pattern consists of a V-shaped composition formed by two obliquely placed cartouches, which connect from the top of the strip to a rocaille-like cartouche along the bottom of the strip. Halfway the right cartouche hangs a curved branch down with four carnations that almost fill the entire width of the strip. The motifs are worked in linen stitch with cutouts and provided with thicker and shiny contour threads. The motifs are connected by a fine trellis ground, the Mechelen ground. Grounds, mainly rose grounds, are applied in the cartouches and between the carnations. The shallow scalloped edge is finished with picots. The upper edge is straight finished.
