Strip of bobbin lace with a hanging triangular cartouche with a pear-shaped flower

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The repeating pattern consists along the top of a hanging triangular cartouche, with a pear-shaped flower between two heart-shaped leaves. The cartouche is alternating with a rosette flower, which with two leaves and one large heart-shaped leaf springs from the continuous pattern along the underside. Directly below the triangle this pattern consists of five linked circles with a four-lobed rosette flower on the left and right. The pattern from which the rosette flower springs consists of two C-volutes from which a large leaf bends sideways. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground, the Mechelen ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with cutouts and with thicker and shiny contour threads. Decorative grounds with large meshes, snowflakes and rosettes are applied in for example the cartouche and under the sideways bending leaf in the pattern along the underside.
