Strip of bobbin lace with fan-shaped arch with four-leaf clovers

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The repeating and continuous pattern consists of a regularly wavy garland of linked circles or wheels. Over each wave valley runs a fan-shaped double arch filled with four-leaf clovers. Under each wave peak stands along the bottom edge a six-lobed flower between two elongated leaves. The motifs are made in linen stitch with few cutouts and thicker and shiny contour threads. The motifs are connected by a decorative ground, a fine snowflake ground, along the top of the wavy pattern and with a coarser lattice ground under the fan-shaped arches and the garland with wheels. The shallow scalloped underside is finished with picots. The top is finished with a separate bobbin-work band.
