Border of bobbin lace with an arch of six-petaled flowers and a fan

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Binche lace. The pattern consists of an alternation of two symmetrical compositions. One composition consists of an arch of five flowers with six petals, the top flower, which sits against the top edge, being halved. Under the arch lies along the bottom edge a pointed oval cartouche. The other composition consists of a fan-shaped motif hanging from the top edge downwards. Under the fan lie along the bottom edge four linked circles resembling buttons. The scalloped bottom edge arises from the pattern. The motifs are connected by a mesh ground, a snowflake ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch without contour threads. In the pointed oval cartouche and in the fan a coarser snowflake ground is used, in the cartouche combined with rosette flowers without contour threads. The top side is finished straight.
