Strip of Needle Lace with Hanging Rose Branch in a Diamond Pattern

Strip of natural-coloured needle lace: Argentella lace. Pattern with an alternation of two large, composite main motifs on a ground of picoted hexagonal meshes, which are densely oversewn with buttonhole stitches. One of the main motifs is a rhombus shape with a hanging rose branch inside. Under the rhombus, where three deeply cut leaf volutes hang over, three star-shaped flowers. Solid work with openings and many different grounds, including the double hexagonal diamond ground with the partridge eyes characteristic of Argentella lace. The upper side is edged with a border of bobbin lace. Lower border with scalloped arches.
