Strip of bobbin lace with two triangular compositions placed against each other

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Binche lace. The repeating and openwork pattern consists of two different compositions, both symmetrical and triangular. The diagonal lines of one composition consist of interlocking V-shaped leaves. An inverted heart forms the top of the triangle, which is crowned by two large feathered volute leaves. In the other composition such volute leaves provide the diagonal lines of the triangle, which is crowned by a not clearly definable, composite motif. In both triangular fields there is a candelabrum motif. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and in net stitch. They are connected by a trellis ground, a five-hole ground. Various grounds are applied, in among others the heart, in one of the candelabrum motifs and under C-volutes. The upper side of the strip is finished straight. The faintly scalloped lower side is finished with picots.
