Strip of bobbin lace with pineapple-shaped reserve

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The repeating and symmetrical pattern consists of two types of reserves with different fillings. One of the two reserves resembles a halved pineapple and is flanked on the left and right by branches turned towards each other. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground. In the reserves decorative grounds are applied with coarser meshes and with small motifs including in the pineapple rosette flowers. The motifs are made in linen stitch with very few cutouts and with thicker and shiny contour threads. The slightly scalloped lower side is finished with picots. The upper side is finished straight.
